Hello everyone! I was browsing the web when I found a few creative ways to store your hijabs! Below are some cute and organized ways to display your hijabs instead of keeping them hidden in drawers. These products can also be used to organize other items, but they make terrific scarf holders, I have also included links as to where you can find these items!

1) Ikea Hanger

2) Over-the-Door Towel Hanger

3) Huggable Hangers: Tie/Belt Hanger

4) Over-the-Door Shoe Rack

 5) Real Simple Swing Arm Pant Hanger

HijabiTopia takes London

Hello there HijabiTopians,

We had a wonderful time visiting London recently. This past week I attended The Global Fashion Management Conference and did an academic paper presentation on The Globalization of Hijab Fashion. Nazreen joined me as well, and I'm so glad she came because I am hilarious when I'm jet lagged, she assisted me by lending me her brain. LOL! I was so exhausted one night that I thought I lost my credit cards when I had only misplaced them, but had already contacted my husband to make sure he canceled them only to find them sitting in my hotel room in the morning (thanks to Nazreen who found them).

London is a beautiful city. We have a large group of followers from London, so a shout out to all of you wonderful Londoners! Thank you for following us. Since this was my first time there, and this conference was only open to conference registrants I could not really invite all of you who live in London to come attend the event, although I would have loved to. I also had several meetings in between while we were there for a few days, so I did not get to plan a meet and greet event, but maybe next time we can arrange a wonderful get together with all of you Londoners.

Right before my speech chatting with the one and only Professor Reina Lewis of London College of Fashion

In any case we had an amazing time. We laughed so much because we kept walking on the wrong side of the street and wanting to go down the wrong side of the stairs, because we are Americans.

I was also in absolute awe of how many Muslims live in the London area. There is no way Muslims can be a minority in London. I must have seen a zillion hijabis while walking in the streets. That is very rare in the U.S. We never see that many hijabis. I thought I was in a Muslim country! You all should appreciate how lucky you are.

In any case, we had a blast. Although I was busy most of the time attending the conference, on Sunday we took the day off to go sight seeing, and guess what? It was a beautiful, sunny day! And how is that possible? A non-rainy day in London! Yippieeee!!! We were so lucky.

Here are a few photos from our trip to London, but most of them are on Instagram and Twitter or Facebook. As much as we love blogging, all other forms of social media are quicker and thus it seems like we never have time to do detailed posts on the blog.  So it's not that we have forgotten about all of you it's just that we get busier and busier by day, as you can imagine :-). If you want to follow any of us on a daily basis please follow us on Twitter, Instagram or Facebook.

On my way to my presentation, early Saturday morning, on Oxford Street, a windy London day. My KAVAKCI COUTURE tulle skirt kept flying from the wind. :-)

KATE SPADE FALL/WINTER 2014

Kate Spade, one of my favorite designers, presented her Fall/Winter 2014 collection at New York Fashion Week last week. Her collection was filled with bright and bold colors, as well as patterns, that are perfect for every complexion and wearable throughout the year.
Kate's collection popped with her choice of vibrant greens, neon yellows and royal blues. Her pieces always depict a more "lady-like" image but with a modern twist. Many different styles of coats are featured in the collection. They range from cropped petticoats to single breasted textured coats. Her collection featured a number of leopard print pieces that include ankle pants, tops and sweaters.

The whimsical accessories like an over sized fur tote sand Hello Tokyo printed clutch bring out the playful side to the collection. However, you also saw Kate Spade classic accessories, like the boxed handbags. I think the label did a magnificent job of color, texture and style pairing that leaves me wanting more! Check out the full collection here: Kate Spade Fall 2014

6 Things You Should Know About Your Clothes

Many of us don't think about where the clothes that we wear come from, who they were made by or what they are really made out of. This article sheds light and hopes to raise consciousness to what we wear the same way people are becoming more food-consciousness nowadays.

The article discusses the chemicals can be found in our clothes, the issue of sweatshops and slaves, as well as the damaging effect of the materials we buy to the environment.

Muslim Public School Holidays Will Be Observed In New York City

New York City is moving to close schools for Eid Al-Fitir and Eid Al-Adha, as well as the Lunar New Year. “It is complicated in terms of logistics and school calendar and budget. But it’s something I want to get done in a reasonable time frame,” New Mayor of New York Bill de Blasio said. Hopefully, we will see more and more cities do the same. Thank you Mayor de Blasio!

The emPowered Bag

We saw a photo of the emPowered bag and were automatically hooked on this amazing wearable technology. Here is our exclusive interview with the designer!!!

Who are the designers behind the emPowered bag?
Our Founder, Loni Edwards, is also the designer behind our first product, the All-In-One.

How did you come up with this idea?
Our phones were always running out of battery and we hated using heavy and bulky phone charging cases.  We wanted something that seamlessly fit into our lives.

Everyone must have fallen in love with your amazing invention (we can't imagine why anyone wouldn't, lol) your website states that all your bags are sold out. What is your strategy to meet the great demand? How are you coping with all the interest in your bags?

We are completely sold out at the moment.  We actually sold out during the first 48 hours of our launch!  We started a new production run immediately of the three most requested sold out colors and made them available for preorder.  And then those sold out in a few days.
However, we’ll be announcing the colors in the next production run and making them available for preorder next week.  So there will be more very soon!

Will you take this idea further and expand on other wearable technology products?

That’s our plan :)

We congratulate Loni Edwards for designing an emPowered and emPressive smart bag that is stylish and technology compatible AND  is at a great price ($149). The emPowered bag is made of leather, comes in a rainbow of colors and ships around the world internationally. You can order yours at http://empoweredbag.com/collections/preorder

We can't wait to get our hands on one, what about you?

You can also follow emPowered bags on twitter, instagram or their website and blog at www.empoweredbags.com

Hijabis in Super Bowl Commercials?

Who is this girl featured below you ask?  Well, she's one of the hijabis in the 'America the Beautiful' Coke commercial featured during the Super Bowl last night!  How cool is it that a HIJABI was in a Coke commercial?  We thought it was VERY cool and VERY inclusive that muslims were included! MAJOR THUMBS UP Coca-Cola!
