Stephane Rolland Haute Couture 2013

As the models walked down the catwalk, it was as if I could feel the light breeze that accompanied the gracefulness of each dress. I mean, how could you possibly not love this collection when ever piece is seemingly even more beautiful than the one before. It reminded me of how amazing it is to be a woman. This is one show my jaw was kept open throughout the entire collection because of how stunning each and every single piece was. Haute Couture was definitely over the top gorgeous.

Stephan Rolland put together a wide array of rich hour glass gowns that are white, silky and smooth. The sheer backs, ruffle embellishments, and flowy silk drapes added a touch of feminineness and overwhelming aurora of sensuality.

White on white is one fashion combination that will never grow old.

I feel like this is where I should stop talking about the show and show pictures instead because no matter how much I talk, no words can explain the beauty of these runway pieces.

INTERESTING FACT: Stephane Rolland baked chiffon bubbles (in the furnace)
to add that exotic look to his dresses (PLEASE DO NOT ATTEMPT TO BAKE FABRIC IN THE OVEN AT HOME! :)

Stephane Rolland does it again.

(not sure how comfortable those shoes really are though)

The Color of 2013

Emerald is the color of the year for 2013, according to Pantone, the color standards division of Kentwood-based X-Rite Inc. it has been described as 'lively, radiant, lush...a color of elegance and beauty that enhances our sense of well-being, balance and harmony.'

I think this is a gorgeous color and can be added to your wardrobe in multiple ways. It adds a pop of color to a neutral outfit. Here are some examples of emeral that can be fashionably incorporated.

Alexander McQueen 'Tulip Skull' Scarf (available at Nordstrom)

Tory Burch 'Robinson' Patent Saffiano Leather Envelope Clutch (available at Nordstrom)

Anne Klein Stretch Bracelet (available at Nordstrom)

How will you incorporate Emerald in to your wardrobe?

Healthy in 2013

All in favor of starting the year out healthy, say "I!" Now, I know that this is a fashion blog (mostly), but sometimes food can be beautiful and fashionable, right?  Well I like to think so.  Check out my latest salad design below.

Gorgeous, right?!  Healthy doesn't always have to be boring or unattractive, or unappetizing for that matter.  The recipe for the above salad is just as easy on the eyes, as it is on your taste buds.

Here's how to recreate it.

Grilled Gorgeous Salad

1 grilled eggplant, chopped
1 grilled red bell pepper, chopped
1/2 a grilled red onion, chopped
2 cups of cherry tomatoes, halved
1/4 cup of roasted pine nuts
1/4 cup of goat cheese, crumbled
5 big basil leaves, julienned

Arrange the above ingredients together in a serving plate.  Toss with your basic lemon juice and olive oil dressing.  Season with freshly cracked pepper and sea salt.

Enjoy!

Wardrobe Staple: Trench Coats

Trench coats are a wardrobe staple because of their versatility. You can dress them up or down. They come in a variety of colors, styles, and lengths. Another plus is that they look great on pretty much every body shape.

Hourglass
Since your body is naturally proportional, you can wear any trench coat with a belt. If you do have a fuller figure and a larger bust, go for a trench coat with only single buttons.
Burberry Prorsum Belted Twill Trench Coat (available at Nordstrom)

Burberry London Double Breasted Cotton Trench (available at Nordstrom)

Pear
Since your lower half is larger than your top half, you want to accentuate your top. Go for anything with shoulder pads and ruffled shoulders. This will even out your shape.
Vince Double Breasted Trench Coat (available at Nordstrom)

Ted Baker London Long Wrap Coat (available at Nordstrom)
Apple
Since your body is top heavy, you want to concentrate on your bottom half. Go for anything with a detailed bottom such as big pockets or a pleated bottom. This will balance out your proportions.
Burberry London Pleated Trench Coat (available at Nordstrom)

Burberry London Double Breasted Wool & Cashmere Trench Coat (available at Nordstrom)

Banana
Since your body is straight, you can pull off pretty much anything! Lucky you!
Kate Spade New York 'Madeline' Trench Coat (available at Nordstrom)

Alberto Makali Animal Print Trench Coat (available at Nordstrom)

Fun Fact: Burberry is best known for their trench coats because Thomas Burberry, founder of Burberry, was one of the first people to design a trench coat.

* HijabiTopia News *

I can't believe that we are already in 2013, time flies. Thank you all for following the blog, as always, we love reading your comments. Sometimes we are late in replying but don't think that we don't value your input on the posts, because that's what it's all about.

We have some exciting changes coming up on our blog this year. Although our blog does not have a target age, in the past we have tried to feature posts on younger hijabis in order to promote hijab. This year in addition we will inshallah feature some children's fiction. Most of you know my daughter Janna, who is an aspiring writer. She writes children's fiction and we will feature her work on the blog. Although it's children's fiction, adults will enjoy reading her short essays as well.

We will also have a new section for Fashion Theory. As most of you know, I have recently returned back to academia and am working on publishing articles in the field of fashion studies, and of course my specialization is hijab fashion which includes discrimination against hijab, hijab fashion theory, as well as other subtitles. I know that several of you requested that I share my papers on the blog, which I plan on doing inshallah!

Alhamdulillah, I remember when we first started the blog with just a few followers and now have come to where it is today. As we have grown to add two more wonderful contributors, we are excited to share more great posts with you this coming year. We also welcome posts from our HijabiTopia followers, on fashion, style, hijab, or any other topic we discuss on the blog. You can email us your ideas at info@kavakcicouture.com or you can leave a comment on the blog with your email and we will contact you.

Wishing everyone a wonderful year.

XOXO
