Islamify Your Life

A LEAP OF FAITH
Nicole Jumps in the air and says
"Alhamdulillah, I'm Muslim!"

Here, at HijabiTopia, we often discuss friendship as being an important factor in our Islamic lifestyles. Having the right friends or the wrong friends can really make a huge difference.
The biggest challenge of living in a Non-Muslim country is that an individual can easily get influenced by the culture and often loose their Islamic values. The only way to survive is to create an Islamic environment for one's self that involves being active in the Mosque, and having good Muslim friends with the same lifestyle. Once the important pillars are laid down, everything else comes very easy.
It's basically a matter of taking the first steps to Islamifying your life.

I think reverts to Islam, who completely change their lifestyle for the better are perfect examples of how to go about doing this.

Attention shoppers!

I just wanted to give everyone a heads up. Dillard's is having a SUPER sale. This is no ordinary sale! This sale involves taking and additional 40% off all permanently reduced merchandise. In nearly every department, you can find amazing deals, as many items are marked 70% off already. Then you take an extra 40% off that! In my book, that's almost like GIVING the stuff away! So, what are you waiting for? Head to your local Dillard's store now and check it out!!!

Happy shopping!!!

Sale!!!

Who doesn't love a great sale, right? I know that I especially love a sale where I can get something cute and fashionable for 70% off! And with the help of technology today, I can shop in the comfort of my own pj's!

I don't know about you, but sometimes the thought of loading my kids into the car, strapping each one into their respective car seats, then off-loading them at the mall, the baby into the stroller, and the big one holding my hand, can be quite daunting--especially when the 14-month old has entered her tantrum-throwing phase.

Thankfully, there is Amazon.com, one of my FAVORITE places to shop. Spend at least $25 and get free shipping and pay no tax! A Double whammie! Additionally, you can avoid long lines at checkout, and your kids complaining that they're hungry and want to get a pretzel from the food court!

Here is my sale of the week:

Amazon.com has 70% off many bags and shoes.

BCBG MAX AZRIA FALL 2011

BCBG is one of my favorite brands to wear. I feel like I can walk into a BCBG store and basically walk out purchasing almost every single item. Their clothes are good quality, decently priced, fresh off the runway, and best of all, can be hijabified very easily.

As with all the other designers who follow the hijab styles we wear, BCBG put a hijabi's most essential item on the runway and made a collection around it! And what is that you say? Just think! What is the number one item in a Hijabi's closet? A turtleneck!! Well, not one turtleneck but several turtlenecks to last us through the year. I can not even remember how many white turtlenecks I have owned in my life time ever since I've started wearing hijab. We can wear our white turtleneck under almost anything and make it look more modest, and it doesn't cost a fortune. Right? Just look at my profile picture ;-)

For us hijabis, finding a turtleneck at our local stores is the biggest news ever! We'll text each other and give exact location and hit the store asap to purchase a bunch.

The interesting part about this collection is that BCBG is doing something that is worn by basically every other Muslim woman. It's very interesting, and I definitely like it!

As I said many times before, in all my other posts, this collection, fresh off the runway, proves once again that as hijabis we are more fashion forward than anyone else. (And this is your daily dose of hijab boost ;-)

So how many white turtlenecks do you own? Care to share?

Hijab Inspired looks on the RUNWAY PART II

I feel like the fashion world has nothing to do but copy us hijabis! Now ladies, if you think hijab is an old-fashioned , backwards, unfashionable piece of clothing, I think you need to think again. In this day and age we are living in, Hijab is what is on the runway! You can go from ordinary to fresh off the pages of Vogue, in minutes. Throw it on and try it for yourself. If you have doubts about doing it for the sake of Allah because someone might say something to you or you might be seen awkward, believe me HIJAB IS IN!

Here are some more fun looks from New York Fashion Week Fall 2011.

THE BONET'S DEBUT ON THE RUNWAY?!?!

Oh my goodness! Check this out. Victoria Beckham spiced up her collection with the bonet! For those of you who are wondering what a bonet is, it is the cotton undercap that most hijabi's wear under their scarf to prevent it from slipping off.

Bonet without Hijab

Bonet with Hijab

Dear Victoria, just a tip: we don't walk around in our bonets. Not so pretty! The Hijab on the other hand is Gorgeous! Well done POSH SPICE !

Donna Karan

I love all these designs because they represent timeless elegance. I love the solids and the monochromatic tone from head to toe! This is what looks elegant ladies, remember my STYLE TIPS?  if you want to look classy, stay away from patterns! Repeat after me: SAY NO TO PATTERNS!

THOM BROWNE

OMG!! I love this collection! I admit I would not wear the patterned combinations but the black and whites, are so gorgeous.
I think this is one of the most fun collections I've ever seen!

So here is how you apply the below trends. First stop Cosmetic Store: pick up the longest eyelashes you can find. Second: go in to your closet, grab a hooded top, a white button down shirt, a jacket, long dress, pants, black tights etc etc, put it all together. Add a pair of oxfords. Voila! You're ready for Thom Brownes' runway.
I DIE LAUGHING!
